Shropshire FA Walking Football League
SHROPSHIRE FA IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE ITS FIRST WALKING FOOTBALL League
Shropshire FA is pleased to announce the launch of its first walking football league. The league is an opportunity to bring all of those currently playing, into a regular, local, and competitive environment.
Initially, walking football was designed to help older players rekindle their love for football, keeping them active and increasing physical activity in the process.
The rules are adapted so there is no running and very little contact.
With less stress on the body and no real sudden change of direction or cutting movements, the game allows participants to play without apprehension and at their own pace.
The league will take place monthly, throughout 2023, rotating between various venues in the county, including: Goalzone at AFC Telford United, Shrewsbury Town Community Hub, Ludlow Stadium and Shrewsbury Sports Village.
Football Participation Officer (Community & Inclusion), Isaac Pollard, said; “Walking football has always been popular in the county, and the new league allows all of those players to come together. We’re incredibly excited to be able to take it across the county and hopefully open up new opportunities for people to play!”.
