Squad Girls Filming with Shifnal Girls FC
Squad Girls’ Filming – Shifnal Girls FC
On Wednesday 22nd February, Shropshire based club Shifnal Girls FC were visited by the FA as part of an exciting project to be involved with the new Squad Girls online training.
After the FA had communicated that they were looking for clubs who currently offer Squad Girls programme, Shropshire FA submitted a nomination for Shifnal Girls FC who became approved as a Squad provider back in 2022 and are coached by Kieran Mountford, nominee of the Youth Team Coach of the Year 21/22 at the SFA Grassroots Awards evening. The nomination was returned as successful and as a result, the club were given the opportunity to host a Squad Girls session that would be filmed in association with the FA and used within the new online training process for the programme.
An amazing total of 40 girls got involved during the all-day event, with those aged 12-14 who took part in the practical session and 15–16-year-olds who kindly volunteered.
Some feedback from the girls who were involved:
“It was a truly memorable fun packed day! If I can inspire at least one girl to take up football, then I will be very happy” Ruby S
“It was an amazing experience and I enjoyed talking in front of the camera” Immy
"It was a really fun day, good to meet other people and take part in some exciting activities. It makes me want to get involved with football more" Pepper
‘’It was a fun experience and a great day to be involved with” Emily
“I really enjoyed the experience, playing football with some of my friends whilst promoting girls’ football will be one I will always remember” Gracie
'The filming day was so much fun. It was great to take part in fun activities with other girls who share the same passion for football as I do” Sophie
Shropshire FA would like to say a big thank you to Kieran Mountford, secretary of Shifnal Girls FC Jane Laing and of course to all of the girls who took part!
