Groundsmen at this level of the game are nearly all volunteers who give up countless hours of their time to provide the best pitches possible with limited resources, equipment and budgets. The Groundsmen of the Year Awards is a great opportunity for these volunteers to be recognised locally, with the top three Groundsmen in Shropshire receiving an award.  

The deadline to nominate, using the attached nomination form, is Friday 17 February 2017.

The Shropshire FA judging panel will be visiting all of the pitches which have been nominated the week commencing the 27 February 2017. The judging panel will use a set of marking criteria which takes into account the club’s resources, equipment, budget, pitch usage, and the individual challenges faced by each Groundsman. 

Clubs playing at Step 6 and above are not eligible to enter the County FA competition (which is for Step 7 and below) but are eligible to enter the Groundman of the Year competition for their respective level of the National League System – a process which is coordinated by the Leagues in conjunction with The Football Association.
